I am happy to know that the next international Conference of NRIs is to be held from 24th to 28th January, 2008 at New Delhi-Jaipur. The NRIs have tremendous opportunities for investment in India.

The practice of staying abroad of Indian Citizens for employment business or even vocation with an intention for uncertain duration of stay is continuing for more than a few decades.

The Non- Resident foreign citizens of Indian Organization are also treated on par with non resident Indian Citizens for the purpose of certain facilities. Though being in a different socio-cultural set up altogether NRIs in abroad contribute substantially in strengthening India’s economy.

India has the second largest overseas diaspora with an estimated 25 million Overseas Indians spread across 110 countries. Though they live in different countries, speak different languages, practice different faiths and are engaged in different vocations, they are bound together by the common thread of a shared culture and a strong bond with their motherland. In every part of the world they are recognized and respected for their hard work, discipline, law abiding nature and for successfully integrating with the local community. Overseas Indians have transformed the economies and have come to occupy a place of pride in the countries of destination and have contributed very significantly to knowledge, innovation and prosperity. I commend the NRIs and PIOs for shouldering their responsibilities with sincerity, dedication and efficiency.

It gives me immense pleasure to know that the NRI Welfare Society of India is hosting its 29th International Congress of NRIs, a Mega Golden Triangle event in New Delhi, Agra and Jaipur from January 24 to 29, 2010. I congratulate the Society for its initiative to invite NRIs from all over the world to their home land and gain from their experience abroad.

NRIs have been instrumental in giving new dimensions to trade and commerce industry in the country besides contributing towards the industrial economic growth by making investments in different activities. They are our national pride who have been earning laurels for the country abroad and at the same time watching the interests of their people back home. 

Himachal Pradesh is a small and beautiful hill state which mother nature has bestowed with bountiful of gifts. State has made remarkable progress in the eco-friendly industrial growth in the recent past and have best of the basic infrastructural facilities available for safe and secure investment by entrepreneurs.
